CRYPTO AND THE EMERGING VIRTUAL WORLD

Back in 2017, I was approached by a good friend to purchase Bitcoin, a digital cryptocurrency. I didn’t go into it at the time because my son didn’t want me to take that risk. I am glad I listened because I would have lost everything since the company in question was holding all the digital wallets, and they disappeared along with everyone’s money. At the end of January 2021, I felt a strong urge to learn about cryptocurrency and started investing in it. I want to share what I have learned in my quest to know more about this digital technology. On April 14th, 2021, Coinbase, a company that holds digital wallets was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The world saw for the first time a converging of digital assets to the physical world. We are entering into an age of advanced technology, where artificial intelligence (A.I.) is emerging through the creation of various digital blockchains. This artificial intelligence will benefit many in the medical field and in the business world, but it will come at a great price. Many people will lose their jobs in the process of this digital A.I. singularity advancement. Quantum computing will enable artificial intelligence to eventually have a mind of its own, to have superhuman intelligence. This can potentially be harmful to us as human beings, especially if they “want to take over the world.” Sounds like a sci-fi movie doesn’t it. What is alarming is that there are presently insufficient regulations for the control of this growing technology. It is wise to be aware of what is going on in the world, but it is important not to let it disturb us. Through the craziness of the world around us, let us stay within the shelter of the Most High. You will hear and see many things, but don’t worry, God has everything in control. In the storms around us, we need to keep our eyes on Jesus. He will give us perfect peace. In October 2021, Facebook changed its name to “Meta”, a name congruent with METAVERSE, a virtual world. A world of augmented reality (AR) In Hebrew the word “Meta” means DEATH. More and more people today are buying digital land, creating their own avatars, their own self in the Metaverse, and this is done through the purchase of digital tokens, cryptocurrency. They are buying clothes, houses and more in these worlds. They are building relationships in these worlds. There are artists today that have given concerts there. This is leading up to a society that will be living both in a digital world and the physical world. A merging of two worlds. We have been progressively primed by social media for this to take place. Social media platforms control us, not the other way around. How many times a day do we look at our phones, Facebook, social media, to see how many people have responded, liked our post, or given us a heart. We have become addicted to their system. Now comes METAVERSE, which is basically a world for the dead. Where people will cease to exist in the real world but live in a virtual world. This will have social implications. Within the next five to ten years, this virtual world will become a part of our daily lives. People will be drawn into this world of augmented reality because it will give them a false sense of hope, of identity. It will be a made-up world, a way to escape from the chaos that will exist in the real world. They will lose themselves in this world. The creators of these worlds knew exactly what they were doing. It’s about money, power, and lots of it.

People will go to these virtual worlds to get their fix, but what people don’t realize is that there is only one person that can give them true fulfillment, and that is Jesus Christ. Man will continuously wander and seek more knowledge, more things to create, but something will always be lacking within them. God gave each human being a spirit and a soul. Nothing can truly fulfill a person unless they are filled with the Spirit of God through Salvation in Jesus Christ. Why? Because we were created by God and He loves us and wants our fellowship. He doesn't want our death, but He has given us free will to choose: Life in His Son Jesus or eternal death. The enemy of man's soul a.k.a. Satan, desires for people to be so distracted by these technologies that they are blinded from the truth, unable to be still and ponder about God, about their very soul and where they will be for eternity. I personally believe that the anti-Christ will arise through this technology. Do I know when, no! Do I find it wrong for Christians to buy cryptocurrency? No, I believe that the wealth acquired through digital currency (crypto) will bless many and enable Believers that have been called for service to move forward with the purpose of spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ, of reaching out to a darkened world. We need to pray for souls to be saved and for all Believers to be united in one spirit, supporting and encouraging one another in the love of Christ. Let us grow in the knowledge of Jesus, and let the Holy Spirit guide us, counsel us in all matters. God Bless! CC
